Kyrgyzstan currently has no ambassador accredited to Estonia.Kubanichbek Omuraliev was the first Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Estonia.
Bilateral relations
The only high-level visit between Estonia and Kyrgyzstan was the official visit of Prime Minister Andrus Ansip to Kyrgyzstan on 12–13 December 2013. During the visit, he met with Prime Minister Jantoro Satybaldiyev, President Almazbek Atambayev and Speaker of Parliament Asylbek Jeenbekov. Prime Minister Ansip opened a business roundtable attended by an Estonian business delegation and inaugurated the Estonian Honorary Consulate.
In October 2018, Speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Dastanbek Dzhumabekov visited Estonia and met with Speaker of the Riigikogu Eiki Nestor and Prime Minister Jüri Ratas.
Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Estonia and Kyrgyzstan took place in November 2018.

At the initiative of the Estonian Embassy, Estonian culture has been introduced in Kyrgyzstan. Estonian films have been screened at international film festivals in Kyrgyzstan. In 2012, an illustrated retelling and selection of songs from the Kyrgyz epic Manas was published in Estonian (compiled by Peeter Ilus, Penikoorem Publishing).
In previous years, Estonia supported water management projects in Kyrgyzstan (most recently in 2005) and participated in OSCE election observation missions.
Since 2013, Kyrgyzstan has been one of the Central Asian countries receiving increased attention in Estonia’s development cooperation, as Estonia’s reform experience and expertise have been of interest to the country. To date, projects worth more than one million euros have been successfully completed.
Supported projects have covered a wide range of fields, including support services for small and medium-sized enterprises, training for diplomats in international relations and cooperation, human rights awareness, rural tourism development, intellectual property and technology transfer, reproductive health counselling and education for young people, start-up ecosystem development, strengthening teacher training institutions, support for subject and language education trainers and advisers, development of digital learning tools, promotion of women’s and small-scale entrepreneurship, and the development of a service-based interoperability framework for e-government, which enabled Kyrgyzstan to launch e-government services.
The Estonian e-Governance Academy was also the lead partner in an EU Twinning IT project implemented in 2021–2023.
Estonia has supported a number of development cooperation projects in Kyrgyzstan, the largest of which is Tunduk, Kyrgyzstan’s equivalent of Estonia’s X-Road, developed in cooperation with the Estonian e-Governance Academy and USAID.
According to the census, around 20 Kyrgyz people live in Estonia. The Kyrgyz Cultural Society operates in Maardu.
