Estonia deems it crucial to restrict conventional arms in Europe and wishes to be a party to international arms control agreements that enhance the security of both Estonia and the wider international community. We expect other countries to follow the same principle.
Estonia aims to prevent the illicit trafficking and transit of weapons of mass destruction and components thereof on its territory. Estonia will continue to play an active role as a party to strategic goods control regimes to limit the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and conventional arms.
Disarmament
Estonia is party to all major multilateral disarmament and non-proliferation treaties:
Our choices have been driven by the desire to safeguard national security and to increase the trust that other countries have in us. We are a trusted and competent partner in disarmament and in the international arms and export control system, standing up for peace, security, and disarmament in the common interest.
