Ordering documents

To order documents from Estonia, we recommend to order the document independently through digital solutions.
If a paper document is needed, you should contact the institution and agree on how to submit the application and receive the document (by post, courier, with a power of attorney, etc.).
A document issued by an Estonian authority can be ordered through Estonian embassies only in exceptional cases.

Documents can be ordered independently (for example, at self-service or by mail).

If you have digital capabilities (Estonian ID card or mobile-ID or Smart-ID or EU e-ID) for ordening vital statistics dokuments you can use e-population register which is common self-service portal for population register services.

The most common documents that can be ordered independently:

Foreign documents can be ordered by directly contacting the specific country’s foreign mission accredited to Estonia.

When living abroad, in exceptional cases it is possible to order documents issued by Estonian authorities through an Estonian embassy. 

To order documents through an Estonian embassy, a document ordering application must be submitted and in addition, one of the following application forms (depending on the document you wish to order) must be submitted.

When ordering a document, a state fee of 20 euros must be paid for the ordering service and, if necessary, a fee for issuing the document (the amount of the fee depends on the document).

More detailed information on the cost of the document and the possibilities for paying fees can be obtained from Estonian foreign missions.

Upon arrival of the ordered documents at an Estonian foreign mission, the customer will be contacted at the address or telephone number indicated in the document order request.

Dokumente saab tellida iseseisvalt (kas iseteeninduses või meili teel). Paljudel juhtudel on dokumentide tellimine tasuta või on soodsam kui tellimine Välisministeeriumi kaudu.
