Yesterday, Estonia and the United Arab Emirates hosted the virtual business forum Global Business Summit, where more than 40 countries presented their best digital solutions and innovation for mitigating the coronavirus crisis.
The Global Business Summit aimed to bring together governments and companies to share best digital solutions and practices that would accelerate digitalisation and help solve the issues resulting from the coronavirus pandemic. The business forum was opened by Estonia’s Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates H. H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In his statement, Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu emphasised the importance of cooperation between states and companies to successfully deal with the socio-economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. “Our task is to cooperate as a global community and use this moment to accelerate the development of digitalisation across the world. As a highly developed digital state, we can share our good experiences in this area and it is clear that in the future, we must offer our citizens digital services of increasing reliability,” Reinsalu said.
Speakers at the conference included several experts, such as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, former President of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Director-General of the World Health Organization Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, IT-visionary Taavi Kotka, Estonia’s CIO Siim Sikkut and many others. Estonia, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, France, Finland, Austria, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Latvia and many other countries presented their best digitalisation practices.
Estonia’s best digital solutions were presented by Guardtime, SK ID Solutions, NET Group, Nortal, Timbeter, FoodDocs and Datel.
