Today 24 May, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jonatan Vseviov met with State Secretary for Global Spain Manuel Muñiz who is on a visit to Estonia. Their meeting covered the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccination certificates, relaunching the economy and tourism, the impact of new technologies on the global order, and regional and global issues.
Estonia and Spain have a rapport; relations between the two countries have grown steadily closer. “Spain is a good partner to Estonia in the European Union and an important ally in NATO. While Estonia and Spain are located at the opposite ends of Europe, there are several similarities in the development and choices of the two countries. Today, among other things, we are supporting the European Union’s green and digital transformation efforts and are making a solid contribution to the development of ICT and new technologies. This prepares the ground for even closer cooperation in the future: today we discussed developing cyber capabilities and recognised many opportunities for cooperation,” Vseviov said.
In addition to meeting Secretary General Vseviov, the State Secretary for Global Spain also visited the e-Estonia Briefing Centre, met with Minister of Information Technology Andres Sutt, a representative of the Information System Authority and took part in a hybrid discussion with members of the Estonian Council on Foreign Relations. The State Secretary also visited an exhibition by the renowned Spanish artist Ignacio Zuloaga at the Mikkel Museum.
