“Early this morning, an aerial threat warning was issued in several parts of Estonia. Drones flying parallel to Estonia’s eastern border also entered Estonian airspace, prompting the Estonian Defence Forces to issue an air-raid alert. NATO Baltic Air Policing fighter jets were scrambled from Ämari Air Base in response to the situation.
Most importantly, the threat has passed, and we have once again seen that Estonia’s airspace is being monitored and that any threat to it is met with decisive and swift action in accordance with established plans.
Incidents such as these are a direct consequence of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. We will therefore continue, together with our Allies, to support Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia to force it to end its aggression.”
