In a phone call with the French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, Urmas Reinsalu thanked France on behalf of Estonia for helping Estonian citizens return home with evacuation flights.
Reinsalu briefed him on Estonia’s UN Security Council Presidency, which begins on 1 May. They talked about the issues facing the Security Council and both ministers said it was important for the European Union members to cooperate in the Security Council.
Reinsalu thanked the French Foreign Minister for the fact that from 1 May to 31 August, the Ämari airbase is hosting French pilots again as part of NATO’s Baltic Air Policing. Le Drian thanked Reinsalu for Estonia’s participation in France’s military mission in Mali. They also discussed fighting COVID-19 and developing bilateral relations in the future.
