Today 8 December, Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu met with Roberto Colin, the outgoing Brazilian Ambassador to Estonia, to thank him for his contribution to advancing bilateral relations. The foreign minister also presented the Brazilian ambassador with the Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana, 3rd class, which the President of the Republic of Estonia awarded him for his services to Estonia.
At the farewell meeting, the foreign minister thanked the ambassador for his commitment to advancing relations between Estonia and Brazil. “Progress in digital, cyber and education cooperation has been particularly remarkable. Additionally, there have been several visits by Brazilian delegations in recent years that has contributed to increased economic cooperation,” Reinsalu said.
Ambassador Colin has been in Estonia since 2016 and also served as the head of the local diplomatic corps. The foreign minister recognised him for successfully completing his duties and wished him success in his new appointment in Cuba.
In December next year, Estonia and Brazil are celebrating the centenary of diplomatic relations. Brazil is the only Latin American and Caribbean state that has an embassy in Tallinn.
