Today 10 May and tomorrow 11 May, Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets is in Brussels to attend meetings of the Foreign Affairs Council and the General Affairs Council.
At today’s meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council, the foreign affairs ministers of the EU will focus on advancing relations between the European Union and the United States and developments in the Western Balkans. Other topics include the peace process in Afghanistan, negotiations on the Iran nuclear agreement, and Russia and Belarus. The meeting is chaired by the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell. Today, Baltic and Benelux foreign affairs ministers will also have a joint breakfast and the EU ministers will have an informal video meeting with US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry.
On Tuesday 11 May, the foreign minister will attend the meeting of the General Affairs Council that will focus on COVID-19 coordination and the Conference on the Future of Europe, as well as preparations for the European Council on 25 May. The ministers will also discuss European Union enlargement, EU enlargement and the stabilisation and association process, as well as EU-Switzerland relations.
