“The strengths of Estonia and the Czech Republic complement one another. Czech industrial capacity and export experience, combined with Estonia’s digital expertise, cyber competence and culture of innovation, create a strong foundation for deeper economic cooperation,” said Mariin Ratnik, Undersecretary for Economic and Development Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Estonia’s defence sector is a rapidly growing high-tech field in which our companies have strong capabilities in areas such as cyber defence, robotics, autonomous systems and communications,” Ratnik added.
At the forum, a cooperation agreement was signed between Frankenburg Technologies and Colt CZ Group. According to Ratnik, this is a clear example of meaningful cooperation between Estonian and Czech companies and their ability to create value together. “At the same time, our economic ties are not limited to future projects. They are also visible in everyday life, whether through Škoda trolleybuses, trains or cars on Estonia’s streets,” Ratnik noted.
According to Frankenburg Technologies CEO Kusti Salm, air defence is one of Ukraine’s most urgent armament needs. “Frankenburg is pursuing this priority in collaboration with Colt CZ Group to help Ukraine access attritable interceptor missiles and launchers against mass aerial attacks, while expanding affordable missile defence capacity for the Czech Republic and European allies,” Salm said.
More than 50 companies participated in the business forum, along with representatives of the Estonian and Czech public sectors, business organisations, and the defence and cyber sectors. Participants included the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, the Czech Ministry of Defence’s intergovernmental defence cooperation agency AMOS, the Czech National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB), as well as, from the Estonian side, the Estonian Centre for Defence Investments, the Estonian Defence and Aerospace Industry Association, and the Estonian Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
The business forum was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
