Today 27 August, Estonia’s new Ambassador to Romania Ingrid Kressel Vinciguerra officially presented her credentials to President Klaus Werner Iohannis. The Ambassador resides in Bucharest.

At the discussion following the official ceremony, Ambassador Kressel Vinciguerra and President Iohannis discussed Estonia and Romania’s similar views on world issues, which lays the groundwork for mutual understanding and productive cooperation. In addition, Ambassador Kressel Vinciguerra congratulated the Romanian President on the country’s recent successful presidency of the Council of the European Union.

At the meeting, President Klaus Iohannis and Ambassador Kressel Vinciguerra affirmed the very good state of bilateral relations between Estonia and Romania, which involves cooperation in regional formats, for example B9 and the Three Seas Initiative. Since Estonia will be hosting the next Three Seas Initiative Summit in 2020, President Iohannis expressed Romania’s readiness to share their experience from successfully hosting the summit in Bucharest in 2018. President Klaus Iohannis and Ambassador Kressel Vinciguerra also discussed cooperation in security issues, European affairs and with eastern neighbours, where we share similar viewpoints.

„Our cooperation in the European Union, NATO and security policy in general, as well as similar interests, create many good opportunities to increase ties in cultural and economic affairs. Estonia is especially ready to share our experiences in digital and cyber fields,“ the Ambassador said.

Ambassador Ingrid Kressel Vinciguerra was born in Tallinn on 22 November 1973. She has graduated from the School of Law of the University of Tartu and has a postgraduate degree in the field of European Studies from the College of Europe in Natolin. Kressel Vinciguerra has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1998. She has been the Director of the South-Eastern European and EU Division, Director of the International Organisations Division, and Desk Officer at the Human Rights Division. She has also represented Estonia as a political affairs diplomat in Geneva to the United Nations and other organisations and in Brussels at Estonia’s Permanent Representation to the European Union regarding South-Eastern European and EU enlargement affairs.

In addition to Romania, Kressel Vinciguerra has also been appointed as the Estonian Ambassador to Bulgaria and Moldova.
