Today, 1 October, Estonian Ambassador to Ireland Kairi Saar-Isop presented her credentials to President of Ireland Catherine Connolly.

During the meeting following the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Saar-Isop and President Connolly discussed relations between Estonia and Ireland, European security and support for Ukraine.

“Estonia and Ireland have close relations and we see many of the challenges facing Europe in much the same way. It is now necessary to take decisions that provide greater support for Ukraine and make Europe stronger,” Saar-Isop said. “Estonia and Ireland can work together to achieve this.”

According to Saar-Isop, Ireland’s recent decision to contribute one million euros to an Estonian-led healthcare and education project in Ukraine is another example of the close cooperation between the two countries. “This is a very concrete example of what Estonia and Ireland can achieve together. As ambassador, I would like to find even more such opportunities for cooperation between our countries,” she said.

Ambassador Kairi Saar-Isop has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1997. She has worked in departments responsible for foreign economic policy and in the Press and Information Department. Saar-Isop has served at the Estonian embassies in Paris and Washington. From 2022 to 2026, she was Director General of the Ministry’s Department for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid.
