Following the presentation ceremony at the Al-Sakhir Palace in Bahrain’s capital Manama, Ambassador Reinhold and Undersecretary for International Affairs Dr Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa discussed the good state of relations between Estonia and Bahrain and the considerable potential for political and economic cooperation.
“Bahrain and other Gulf States have a great interest in Estonia’s e-state solutions, however, our cooperation should go beyond that,” Reinhold said. “Considering Bahrain’s geographical location, climate and developments in its tourism sector, we see opportunities for food and green technology exports.”
The ambassador noted that a delegation of Estonian entrepreneurs is expected to visit Bahrain this autumn, and this could provide an opportunity to agree on further areas of cooperation.
Ambassador Jaan Reinhold graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Tartu with a degree in history. In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he has worked at the Department for European Affairs, and as the Director of the Business Diplomacy and Analysis Division of the External Economic and Development Cooperation Department, as well as in the embassies in Vilnius, as Consul General in Shanghai and as ambassador to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
The ambassador resides in the United Arab Emirates and is co-accredited to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar as a non-resident ambassador. Before his appointment to Abu Dhabi in 2019, Reinhold was the Ambassador at Large for Eastern Partnership and the Director of the Estonian Centre of Eastern Partnership.
