On Wednesday, 15 November in Paris, Estonian Ambassador to France Margus Rava and the Ambassador of the Republic of Seychelles to France Callixte d'Offay signed a joint communiqué establishing diplomatic relations between the Republic of Estonia and the Republic of Seychelles.
In the conservation that followed the signing, discussion centred on economic cooperation between the European Union and the Seychelles, in which fishing plays a key role. There was also discussion of the opportunities for cooperation between Estonia and the Seychelles and it was noted that the institution of honorary consul would provide many possibilities for enlivening contacts, allowing tourism and economic and cultural relations to be developed in the future.
Ambassador Rava thanked the Ambassador of the Republic of Seychelles for the support provided in Estonia’s becoming a member of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in July 2006.
