Monday 5 April

From 5 to 9 April, Estonian Ambassador at Large for Cyber Diplomacy Heli Tiirmaa-Klaar attends the virtual consultations of the UN group of cyber experts. The UN Group of Governmental Experts (GGE) includes representatives from 25 countries across the world, including Estonia. The previous GGEs are among the most successful in international cyber diplomacy in establishing norms to ensure responsible state behaviour in cyberspace.

Wednesday 7 April

Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets meets with the Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau on a virtual visit. Estonian and Polish companies from fields such as smart cities, cybersecurity and drone technology also attend.

Thursday 8 April

From 5 to 9 April, Secretary General Jonatan Vseviov is in Paris to meet with his French counterpart François Delattre and other officials at the ministry, and Emmanuel Bonne, the Diplomatic Adviser of President Emmanuel Macron. The agenda includes bilateral relations, security and defence policy, relations with Russia and China, cooperation in the Sahel region and the EU’s Eastern Partnership, as well as the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2022.

Friday 9 April

Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets meets with visiting Spanish Foreign Minister Arancha González Laya. The ministers will discuss the bilateral relations of Estonia and Spain, COVID-19 coordination and vaccination; the Conference on the Future of Europe, digital and green transformation, migration, and relations with the United Kingdom. They will also talk about the strategic autonomy of the EU, the future of NATO, transatlantic relations, Russia, Belarus, China and Turkey.

While in Estonia, the Spanish foreign minister will also meet with Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, President Kersti Kaljulaid and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Marko Mihkelson.

The visit marks the centenary of diplomatic relations between Estonia and Spain.
