Undersecretary Roger commended Türkiye for its contribution to strengthening NATO’s eastern flank and for its forthcoming participation in the Air Policing mission at Ämari. Both sides expressed their readiness to explore opportunities for deepening bilateral defence cooperation.
Addressing Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Roger stressed that, at a time when Russia continues to intensify its attacks and shows no willingness to alter its objectives, it is essential to maintain steadfast support for Ukraine, continue exerting pressure on Russia, further its international isolation, and develop mechanisms to hold Russia accountable for its repeated violations of international law.
The Undersecretary highlighted that developing the security guarantees Ukraine requires and integrating the country into the Euro-Atlantic security architecture constitute an investment in European security. This also provides an opportunity to learn from Ukraine’s experience in strengthening national defence and developing effective defence mechanisms.
Discussing the situation in the Middle East, Roger stressed that achieving stability in the region is in Estonia’s interests. The continuation of the conflict has a negative impact on both the security of our region and global stability.
