Estonia supports the statement of North Atlantic Council of September 12, 2001, that condemns the appalling attacks perpetrated against the United States of America and regards this an action covered by Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty. According to Article 5 an armed attack against one or more of the Allies shall be considered an attack against them all.
Estonia as a candidate country for NATO membership, associates itself with the message contained in the statement and is prepared to provide to the United States any assistance within the scope of its capabilities.
Estonia condemns all forms of terrorism and considers it a serious threat to peace and stability. Estonia stands ready to co-operate in the fight against terrorism in any possible way.
