In photos: Foreign Minister Reinsalu met with ambassadors residing in Tallinn

Today, 6 May, Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu met at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the foreign ambassadors residing in Tallinn. He outlined the political aims of the new government of Estonia and discussed broader foreign policy issues.

Reinsalu reaffirmed that Estonia will continue on its current foreign policy course. “The unity of the European Union and NATO is vital for us and we wish to preserve it. Another priority will certainly be the reinforcement of transatlantic ties, especially enhancing our alliance with the United States,” the Foreign Minister said.

The Foreign Minister also talked about the importance of supporting Eastern Partnership countries, strengthening Estonia’s diplomatic network, including opening a consulate in San Francisco and a representation in Abu Dhabi, the need to bolster economic cooperation, EU enlargement issues, and Estonia’s campaign for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council.
