“Japan is an important partner for Estonia; the contacts between our two countries have become closer in the past year and our relations are becoming stronger,” Foreign Minister Reinsalu said. “Cooperation on cyber issues is one of the most important aspects of our relations and we are happy that in 2018, Japan joined the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence based in Tallinn,” Reinsalu said.

The meeting also touched upon cooperation in international organisations and Foreign Minister Reinsalu highlighted Estonia’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council.

The Foreign Minister reiterated his invitation to the Foreign Minister of Japan to visit Estonia. It would be the first visit to Estonia for a foreign minister of Japan.
