Today 26 February, Foreign Minister Reinsalu met with Dmytro Razumkov, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, to discuss increased tensions in eastern Ukraine, bilateral cooperation and Estonia’s measures in support of Ukraine’s reform process.

“Ukraine’s ambitions in enacting reforms are impressive and the best response to Russia’s aggression. The fight against corruption, legal reform, and increasing the trust of investors are of key importance here. We are wishing Ukraine strength and determination in maintaining their momentum,” Foreign Minister Reinsalu said, adding that he was glad to see Ukraine’s increased cooperation with the European Union.

According to Reinsalu, Estonia is a principled and vocal friend of Ukraine on the global arena. He highlighted the joint statement of European Union members after a session of the UN Security Council, made on the initiative of Estonia, affirming their full support to Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and condemning Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea.
