Foreign Minister Reinsalu attends the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Bratislava

Today 5 December, Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu attends the meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Bratislava.

In his presentation during the meeting, the minister will underscore Estonia’s continued support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and Georgia. He will also speak about the need to adhere to the Helsinki principles and OSCE’s role in solving conflicts in the region.

Foreign Minister Reinsalu will meet with several of his colleagues within the framework of the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting. His schedule includes bilateral meetings with the Foreign Minister of North Macedonia Nikola Dimitrov, Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei, the Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov and Lamberto Zannier, the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities. Minister Reinsalu will also meet Slovenian Foreign Minister Miro Cerar to discuss issues related to the Three Seas Initiative.

This year, the OSCE chairmanship is held by Slovakia and the Ministerial Council of the OSCE is held on 5 and 6 December in Bratislava. Albania will take over the next chairmanship in 2020.

OSCE is the largest regional organisation for security cooperation that includes 57 participating states, and it aims to ensure peace and stability.
