Foreign Minister Mikser commended the Estonian community in Sweden for promoting Estonian language and culture

Today, Foreign Minister Sven Mikser was in Stockholm for the Baltic Day celebration dedicated to the 100th anniversaries of the Baltic countries. The Swedish Government announced a gift to the Baltic countries called the Centennial Fund - 30 million SEK for promoting cooperation. The foreign ministers of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden also had a meeting to discuss regional cooperation and topical EU affairs.

“I am delighted to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Estonia in Sweden among compatriots and friends and I would like to thank the Estonians living in Sweden for their work in promoting the Estonian language and culture,” Foreign Minister Mikser said in his address at the Baltic Day celebration.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversaries of the Baltic countries, Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström announced a gift from the Swedish Government to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania  – SEK 30 million anniversary fund for the promotion of cooperation between the four countries.

“Estonia highly appreciates our joint efforts in the fields of culture, education and environment, and this gift from the Swedish Government will further promote our cooperation,” Mikser said.
In addition to discussing culture, education and environment, the foreign ministers talked about security.
