The Foreign Minister discussed migration policy with his Hungarian counterpart

Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu met with the Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó yesterday in Slovakia. The meeting covered Estonia’s priorities in the UN Security Council, international migration policy and cooperation in shaping the next budgetary framework of the European Union.

The ministers noted the importance of maintaining the principle of the sovereignty of states in migration issues. Urmas Reinsalu stressed that in shaping international law in the field of migration, it was important to have a thorough legal analysis of effects and consequences.

The Foreign Minister of Hungary welcomed the reopening of the Estonian Embassy in Budapest and invited the Estonian Foreign Minister on a visit to Hungary.
