Estonian Ambassador to South Korea presented his credentials

Today 31 May, the Estonian Ambassador to South Korea Väino Reinart officially presented his credentials to President Moon Jae-in at a formal ceremony.

At the discussion following the ceremony, the Estonian Ambassador extended his condolences to the President for the boat accident in Budapest that claimed the lives of many South Korean tourists. The brief discussion also touched on the political situation on the Korean Peninsula and possibilities for tightening bilateral relations, especially in technology cooperation and economic relations.

“Both Korea and Estonia are technologically advanced countries; several information technology solutions of today have been conceived in Korea or Estonia, so there are plenty of opportunities for cooperation in the field of technology,” Reinart said.

Ambassador Väino Reinart was born in Kuressaare on 28 December 1962. Reinart graduated from the Department of Automation and Engineering of the Tallinn University of Technology and opted for postgraduate studies in the field of physics in the Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics of the Estonian Academy of Sciences. Reinart has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1992. He was the chief negotiator for Estonian-Russian negotiations and has worked as the Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Permanent Representative of Estonia to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the Director General of the Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and as the Undersecretary for Political Affairs. Furthermore, Reinart has been the Estonian Ambassador to the European Union, the United States, Mexico, and Canada. From 2011-2018, Ambassador Reinart worked as the Undersecretary for Economic and Development Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Väino Reinart is the Estonian Ambassador to Japan and he is also accredited as Ambassador to Afghanistan and the Philippines.
