Yesterday, Foreign Ministry’s Undersecretary for Economic and Development Affairs Väino Reinart opened the Office of Estonian Honorary Consul in Aarhus, Denmark. The Estonian Honorary Consul is Claus Emil Engel Johansen who has a background in law.

Undersecretary Reinart noted at the opening ceremony that Estonia and Denmark are countries that think along the same lines and have had many contacts throughout history. “The new office will give us an opportunity to provide consular service to Estonians living in Central Jutland after a two-year pause. We also hope to deepen business relations between Estonia and Denmark with the help of our honorary consul,” Reinart said.

Claus Emil Engel Johansen was named Estonian Honorary Consul in October last year. Johansen specialises in commercial law and works as a lawyer at Advokaterne Skt Knuds Torv and is a member of the Fugitive Appeals Board.

The new Office of Honorary Consul is located at Ryesgade 31, 8000 Aarhus, Denmark. The Honorary Consul can be reached by phone at +45 31 181 115 or by sending an e-mail to [email protected].

There are five Estonian Honorary Consuls in Denmark, three of them in Jutland.

The opening ceremony was followed by a business seminar organised by Honorary Consul Johansen in cooperation with the Estonian Embassy in Copenhagen and Business Network Aarhus.
