The Sultanate of Oman recognized the Republic of Estonia on 22 September 1991. Diplomatic relations were established on 23 September 1992.
In January 2012, Mr. Lauri Bambus, Estonian first Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman presented the credential letter to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said. The ambassador resides in Tallinn.
The Omani Ambassador in Estonia Mr. Abdul Aziz Abdullah Zahir Al-Hinai presented his credentials in August 2012. The ambassador resides in London.
February 2019 - Prime Minister Jüri Ratas met during the EU - Arab league Summit in Sharm El Sheikh with Deputy Prime Minister for international cooperation of Oman Sayyid Asa'ad Bin Tariq Bin Taimur al Said.

October 2015 - Taavi Rõivas, the Estonian Prime Minister's visit to Oman with a business delegation
August 2014 - Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Oman's Trade and Industry Minister's visit to Estonia
May 2012 – Mr. Juhan Parts, Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Communication visit to the Sultanate of Oman
June 2011 – H.E. Mr. Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusiaidi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman official visit to Tallinn, Estonia
April 2009 – Mr. Urmas Paet, Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs visit to Muscat, Oman
- Memorandum of Understanding between The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communication of the Republic of Estonia and The Information Technology Authority of the Sultanate of Oman in the field of information and communication technology. Signed on April 30, 2012 in Muscat.
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia and the Sultanate of Oman's Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding political consultations. Entered into force on May 21, 2014.
In 2018, Oman ranked in 74th place among Estonian's trade partners.
