The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan recognised the Republic of Estonia on 14 September 1991 and established diplomatic relations with Estonia on 24 January 2001.
Diplomatic communication between Estonia and Jordan goes through their embassies in The Hague.
From March 2011 until November 2019 Estonia's Ambassador to Jordan was Mr. Margus Rava, residing in Tallinn.
From October 22, 2014 until the end of July 2018 the non-residing ambassador of Jordan to Estonia was Mr. Ahmad Mufleh. The Jordanian Ambassador resided in The Hague. The Ambassador of Jordan from 16 October 2019 is Dr. Nawaf Tell, residing in The Hague.
From 2001-2007 retired major general Shafik R. Jumean worked as Estonia’s honorary consul in Amman, Jordan. Since 2009 the Estonian honorary consul in Jordan has been Mr. Ayman Jumean.
18 April 2019, the Estonia-Jordan parliamentary group was established in the Riigikogu.

- 16 October 2003 – Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Estonia and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan regarding the status of Estonian police officers participating in the training of Iraqi police forces;
- 10 May 2010 – Agreement for the reciprocal facilitation and protection of investments (came into force 6 June 2011);
- 11 May 2010 – Government of Jordan and Eesti Energia concluded a co-operation agreement by which Eesti Energia will invest 5 billion dollars over the next 10 years to build up Jordan’s oil shale industry.
- 8 January 2013 – Visa Waiver Agreement Between the Government of the Republic of Estonia and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for Carriers of Diplomatic Passports.
Estonia-Jordan trade 2016-2018 (million euros):
Estonia’s main export articles in 2018 were machinery and equipment - 65%, wood and wood products - 16%, mineral products - 12%. The main imports were transport equipment – 60% and chemical products - 33%.
According to the Bank of Estonia, as of 31.12.2018, Estonia had made investments in Jordan in administrative and assistance sector. Jordan has invested in Estonia 123 000 euros to the telecommunication and the wholesale and retail trade.
