The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan recognised the Republic of Estonia on 14 September 1991 and established diplomatic relations with Estonia on 24 January 2001.

Diplomatic communication between Estonia and Jordan goes through their embassies in The Hague.

From March 2011 Estonia's ambassador to Jordan is Margus Rava, residing in Tallinn.

The non-residing ambassador of Jordan to Estonia, Ambassador Ahmad Mufleh presented his credentials to President Toomas Hendrik Ilves on October 22, 2014. The Jordanian Ambassador resides in The Hague.

From 2001-2007 retired major general Shafik R. Jumean worked as Estonia’s honorary consul in Amman, Jordan. Since 2009 the Estonian honorary consul in Jordan has been Mr. Ayman Jumean.

  • 16 October 2003 – Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Estonia and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan regarding the status of Estonian police officers participating in the training of Iraqi police forces;
  • 10 May 2010 – Agreement for the reciprocal facilitation and protection of investments (came into force 6 June 2011);
  • 11 May 2010 – Government of Jordan and Eesti Energia concluded a co-operation agreement by which Eesti Energia will invest 5 billion dollars over the next 10 years to build up Jordan’s oil shale industry.
  • 8 January 2013 – Visa Waiver Agreement Between the Government of the Republic of Estonia and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for Carriers of Diplomatic Passports.

Estonia’s main export articles in 2017 were machinery and equipment - 66%, wood and wood products - 17%,  mineral products - 9%. The main imports were chemical products - 49%, machinery and equipment – 14% and transport equipment – 11%.  

According to the Bank of Estonia, as of 31.03.2018, Estonia had made investments in Jordan in administrative and assistance sector. Jordan has invested in Estonia 103 000 euros to the telecommunication and the wholesale and retail trade.
