The Three Seas Virtual Summit that took place on 19 October, 2020 focused on the future of the initiative, funding of cross-border infrastructure projects and digitisation of the energy and transport sector. More information is available on the official 3seas website.
For Estonia, the event was a foreign policy highlight that made an important contribution to the development of Eastern and Central European states and the prosperity of more than 100 million people.
Objectives
The Three Seas Virtual Summit involving heads of state focused on the future of the initiative, funding of cross-border infrastructure projects and on the digitisation of the energy and transport sector. Where the latter is concerned, Estonia showcased the Smart Connectivity vision and the extensive digital experience it involves.
Programme
The virtual summit focused on three parts:
- working session and panel between Presidents
- smart money (Three Seas Investment Fund, cross-border infrastructure projects)
- smart connectivity (Estonia's vision to expand digital components across key infrastructure)
Secretariat
The Three Seas technical secretariat was created in March 2020 to ensure the smooth organisation of the summit, and the general coordination of the Three Seas initiative.
