Finnish President Tarja Halonen to Come to Estonia for Working Visit

Tarja Halonen, who is nearing the end of her term as head of state, will meet with President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, who will host a lunch in her honour. The Finnish president also has plans to meet with Riigikogu Speaker Ene Ergma.

Finnish President Tarja Halonen will be in Estonia on Monday, 30 January. Tarja Halonen, who is nearing the end of her term as head of state, will meet with President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, who will host a lunch in her honour. The Finnish president also has plans to meet with Riigikogu Speaker Ene Ergma.

Topics to be discussed at the meetings are Estonia-Finland bilateral relations and European Union subjects such as the situation in the euro zone, matters related to economic and financial policy, and the EU’s next financial perspective. Regional co-operation, including co-operation in the energy and transport sectors and in the Baltic Sea region in general, will also be discussed. International topics will include developments in the Middle East and Northern Africa.
