Mikser met with the leaders of the Palestinian Authority

9. March 2017 - 16:48

Foreign Minister Sven Mikser affirmed today at meetings with the Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority Rami Hamdallah and the Foreign Minister of the Palestinian Authority Riad Malki that Estonia supports a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine. “Enduring peace can only be ensured by the two-state solution negotiated between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, not by unilateral action. Settlement activities on one part and inciting violence on other part clearly do not help to solve the situation,” Mikser noted.

Topics discussed included also security situation in the region and other important foreign policy issues. Estonia and the Palestinian Authority signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in which the countries agreed to continue with political consultations.

In addition, Sven Mikser met with the Minister of Information Technology of the Palestinian Authority Allam Mousa. They discussed the long-term Palestinian e-governance project supported by the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and carried out in cooperation with the e-State Academy. Mousa thanked Estonia for its contribution to developing e-services of the Palestinian Authority and expressed hope that cooperation continues.
