EU General Affairs Council concludes preparations for this year’s final European Council
Today, Foreign Minister Sven Mikser will chair the EU General Affairs Council, which will conclude preparations for the European Council meeting on 14-15 December 2017. The Council is expected to approve a joint declaration of the three institutions on the EU's legislative priorities, among others economic growth, migration and security.
The European Commission will present its annual growth survey for 2018, which launches the annual cycle of economic governance in the EU.
The ministers of Member States will have an informal lunch with Commissioner Hahn and candidate countries Albania, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey.
In the afternoon, the General Affairs Council, meeting in an EU27 format, will discuss the state of play of the Brexit negotiations and preparation for the meeting of the EU27 heads of state or government at the European Council (Art. 50) to take place on 15 December 2017.
