Estonian Ambassador to Turkmenistan presents his credentials

Today, on 4 April, Estonian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Heiti Mäemees presented his credentials to the Speaker of the Parliament of Turkmenistan, Gulshat Mammedova, in Ashgabat.

After the ceremony, Ambassador Mäemees noted that there is untapped potential in relations between Estonia and Turkmenistan. “Estonia is ready to develop relations with Turkmenistan. Bilateral consultations and visits between the countries could take place to facilitate communication. Estonia is ready to share its experience in ICT with Turkmenistan,” the ambassador said.

Mammedova spoke about Turkmenistan’s interest in cooperation with Estonia in different fields. The speaker pointed out that Turkmenistan is interested in other countries’ experience in the framework of the programme to modernise the state. In this regard, Mäemees and Mammedova agreed that it is possible to strengthen relations between Estonia and Turkmenistan.

Estonia’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan resides in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Heiti Mäemees studied industrial electronics at the Tallinn University of Technology and diplomacy and international relations at the Estonian School of Diplomacy. From 2014, Ambassador Mäemees was a counsellor at the embassy in Warsaw and from 2011 to 2014, a counsellor in the political section of the Permanent Representation of Estonia to NATO. Heiti Mäemees is the current Estonian Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan and to the
Republic of Tajikistan.
