Estonian Ambassador to Slovenia presents letter of credence

Yesterday, the Estonian Ambassador to Slovenia Sten Schwede presented his credentials to the President of Slovenia Bohut Pahor in Ljubljana. Ambassador Schwede resides in Prague.

Talking about Estonia-Slovenia relations, Ambassador Schwede said that the countries continue to support each other. President Pahor thanked Estonia for its support in ensuring the border security of Slovenia during the migration crisis and Schwede thanked Slovenia for its decision to send up to 50 soldiers to the Baltic region in the framework of the NATO Enhanced Forward Presence.

Ambassador Schwede and President Pahor also discussed possible cooperation in developing the EU digital single market. “Digital cross-border cooperation is one of the priorities of the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Therefore, the experts of Estonia and Slovenia should meet at the earliest opportunity to exchange experiences and find common ground,” Schwede said.

Sten Schwede was born on 16 March 1974 in Lehola, Harjumaa. In 1997 he graduated from the University of Trondheim where he studied political science. Schwede started his diplomatic career in 1997 as a Desk Officer at the Press- and Information Department, and at the External Economic Policy Department. Sten Schwede has been the Consul General in New York. At the moment, Schwede is the Estonian Ambassador to the Czech Republic. Ambassador Schwede is married and has three kids.
