Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports giving humanitarian aid and enabling shelter and necessities for those in need in East Ukraine with 575,000 euros.

According to Director-General of the External Economic and Development Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jüri Seilenthal, the two years of armed conflict in East Ukraine have caused a humanitarian crisis that continues to need international attention and support to help the victims. “Arriving winter makes the situation of those that need help even more serious and humanitarian needs increase: there is a lack of blankets, warm clothes and heating devices. Insufficient medical help, public services and humanitarian organisations’ access to civilians in need of help in eastern Ukraine continue to be a problem,” Seilenthal said and added that the situation is also very difficult in child care institutions.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports the alleviation of the humanitarian crisis in eastern Ukraine through the International Committee of the Red Cross with 100,000 euros and alleviating the situation of people suffering because of the crisis through the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees with 200,000 euros. In addition, Ministry of Foreign Affairs allocates 200,000 euros to the United Nations Children's Fund and 75,000 euros to the Ukrainian representation of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
