Estonia and Sudan establish diplomatic relations

Foreign Minister Sven Mikser and Foreign Minister of Sudan Ibrahim Ghandour established diplomatic relations between Estonia and Sudan at the African Union Summit.

The ministers also discussed regional security in East Africa and the Horn of Africa. Mikser said that a broad agreement between all of the region’s countries is needed to solve regional conflicts.

Sudan is situated in north-eastern Africa. The country, with its capital Khartoum, has a population of 37.3 million. Estonia and Sudan have previously communicated through Sudan’s Embassy in Stockholm.
