The purpose of this Agreement is to facilitate the issuance of visas for an intended stay of no more than 90 days per period of 180 days to the citizens of the Union and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Citizens of the European Union and the Republic of Azerbaijan who are holders of valid diplomatic passports may enter, leave and transit through the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan or the Member States without visas.
As a general rule, the agreement stipulates that a decision upon the request to issue a visa must be taken within 10 calendar days. The fee for processing visa applications shall amount to EUR 35.
The agreement also provides a total exemption from the visa fee for certain categories of applicants, e.g. close relatives, children below the age of 12, pupils and students, pensioners, disabled persons, scientists etc.
The agreement substantially simplifies the necessary supporting documents for a visa application for certain categories of persons.
